National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is conducted by Union Service Public commission (UPSC), twice a year for young aspirants who are enthusiastic to join Indian Airforce, Indian Navy and Indian Army as a first class gazatted officer. NDA exam has multiple stages written examination which is followed by (Service Selection Board) SSB interview and medical examination. About National Defence Academy (NDA)
National Defence Academy is a joint training institute of defence force where young boys and girls are trained and turned into officer cadets to join Indian Army, Navy and Airforce and junior leadership of friendly countries. NDA is located on the outskirts of Pune astride the waters of the Khadakvasla dam.
NDA is the first tri-service training academy in the world, administered by a three star officer of defence forces. Till 2021 only male cadets were trained in the NDA but after the judgement of Supreme court in 2021 doors were also opened for female candidates to apply for NDA exam and train in academy.
About NDA Exam:
UPSC conduct written exam twice a year for selection of candidates for further SSB interview and Medical examination. Both male and female candidates of age between 16.5 years – 19.5 years and with the respective eligibility criteria as mentioned in the official UPSC notification are allowed to appear for the NDA exam.
NDA Examination Selection Process:
In the first stage of NDA examination candidates are selected in the written examination, qualified candidates are than tested by the SSB for officer like qualities through their specially designed tests like psychological round, Ground tasks and personal interview.
Candidates who meet SSB board criteria go for the next round which is Medical examination and on clearing this round they are considered fit to join National Defence Academy where they trained for 3 years and in the last year they sent to their respective academy Indian Airforce Academy, Naval Academy and Military Academy for training.
